p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · A7riii v A7iii

Hi all. I’ve never posted before, and I’m sure this topic has worn thin, but I’m still having a difficult time deciding between the A7R3 and the A73. I just dumped my Canon 5D Mark 3 and am happy to be on board with Sony mirrorless. Fortunately I can stretch for some good lenses. I am an avid hobbyist and live in Colorado where I enjoy landscapes, macros etc. I travel and also print every so often. Any general recommendations other than the cropping advantage of the A7R3 you guys can give me to help me decide between the two? Also, what’s GT as a buying source?

If you are doing landscapes it's an easy decision - R3. More MP, Pixel Shift, Better View Finder (for manual focus).

GT is a mixed bag on this forum. I bought from them once and it was a good buying experience. I think most of the problems people have had with GT vendors are with 'hot' items that are out of stock or hard to find.

There are a few R3s (IIRC) on the Buy and Sell. There are some great people on this forum - just look at their feedback before purchasing.

R3: higher resolution, better EVF and 3 custom modes on the dial

3: broader AF coverage... 2 custom modes on dial ☹️

I’ve only purchased 1 item on GT, I’m happy with how it went. It was a good deal from one of my preferred retailers.

Thanks all. Funny that with need for reading glasses, the viewfinder is great to see settings. But never thought about it re: manual focus.

I would go with the a7r III. I just upgraded from the a7 and I found that the a7 III is the hot camera right now and is holding it's price fairly well. The a7r III on the other hand, has dropped in value and is not much more expensive. I scored an a7r III for 2200 on this site. It was mint with all original accesories and an additional battery.

The key is patience when finding a used Camera. Deals show up all the time here if you pay attention.
