Sharp-shinned and Cooper's always look too similar to me.

Saw the hawk take down a robin. The first shot is of a second hawk that was hunting with the hawk that caught the robin. The second hawk posed on the rock for me. The hawk that caught the robin flew to the other side of the pond with the robin in its talons. Too far away for a good shot, but you can just make out the tail of the robin protruding out by the lower left of the hawk's tail as it is shielding (mantling) its prey.

Hi Tony, these are fantastic images, the backgrounds and environments you caught these guys in are superb and add to the subject.

Immature SSHA and adult COHA. They're both birds, so they do have some similarities.

Seems odd that they were hunting together, or maybe they were just competing for the same prey.

Good work Tony. Even the distant hoodlum looks pretty decent.

Nice catch Tony. I'd be leaning towards them both being Sharp-shinned hawks. I remember this time last year my yard was visited by 2-3 SSHs every day....but all juveniles so always unsuccessful at hunting birds at the feeders.
Did you notice a big size difference between the two of them....the Cooper's is significantly bigger so if the adult is a Cooper's as Christian thinks you would have probably noticed the size difference with them both there together.
