Denali National Park is my backyard. You captured it just fine. I love "the mountain" and can see it from near my house, but Polychrome Pass (image #3) is a special place and your image is quite nice. No one who visits Alaska can resist returning. There is a lot to see and do. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks gang.
Jim, we felt that Denali was indeed a very special place, as was just about everything we saw..including the bears at Katmai NP (will post a few bear pics to the nature/wildlife board separately). We were there during a great time of year. September is our favorite month to travel with greatly reduced crowds and very good weather just about everywhere. Speaking of which, we also understand that we were very lucky to have had the weather we did. Really the only rain we had was in Katmai, and that wasn't too terrible, just damp and drizzle. Also, no mosquitos in September in AK which also made things more enjoyable. I can imagine that the crowds you get during peak summer make the experience pretty different than what we experienced. We were at Denali right as it was closing, and went out onto the Kenai fjords with one of the last boats still operating out there.
Anyway, wonderful place. I would like to go back. It is hard to capture the raw beauty of the state.
