Probably not, but I think they made some advances here that others have missed like internal memory, and fairly advanced editing (relatively speaking), but I don't see it replacing my Q.

Which to me are terrible. I just hope they don't screw up their Loxia line! I think their design people are off the rails. Kind of sad to see that happen to a company many of us depend on. Sony is doing excellent design work on their lenses in comparison. IMO of course.

I like the idea of a giant screen and literally not one single other design choice they made.

I would be willing to pay a whole lot near Leica territory for a E-mount version or even a "Zeiss mount" version.

I don’t know who thought making a sleak textureless focusing ring on the Batis line was a good idea, and then couple it with fly-by-wire, and the bulk. Boy is it annoying. My Batis 18 is a great modern lens, but it’s a pain to use. I guess Zeiss is “nudging” us to use AF :/

I gave up photography years ago but this made me actually click on a photography site again.

I don't know what Zeiss is trying to achieve here, this is an incredibly niche camera. I think it's fantastic except for the fact that it's Zeiss and therefore will cost something silly.

I love what Zeiss is trying to do although I'm not sure it will be financially successful. Perhaps they are going down the Tesla route of starting with the exotic to fund further development of an aspirational model, followed finally by an every person model. I don't know, but I think it's really cool what they are doing. The camera itself isn't for me as I feel it's too big by about 25% and it's bound to be expensive. I'm positive the IQ will be stellar.

Nope.

It's no RX1R-II nor its replacement.

It's not a useful photographic tool for me with the lack of external buttons/controls.
Really find the touch screens not very useful on cameras like these as I want control while the camera is at my eye.

Sony, please bring out the 50MP RX1R-III now that this new Zeiss camera is no competition.

Fred you really should have added an option to vote for "No, it's not a camera that will work for me" or something like that.

PS - Looking forward to the Panasonic L-mount FF body - these guys know how to make a photographic tool.

Not in consideration for me, if I was to get a fixed lens 2nd camera it should be much smaller and lighter than my main camera (A9). I like the large internal SSD memory and high-res viewfinder concepts here. Mainly dislike the size and weight, ergonomics look questionable too. Not much info on how AF and MF work with this camera yet. I also don't use Lightroom in my post processing anymore (C1 Pro for Sony instead on PC and VSCO mobile on smartphone) so not convinced about in-camera PP with Lightroom either.

When I want to process something on the go I usually transfer the selected photo(s) (I shoot RAW+JPEG and can just transfer the original JPEGs easily) to my Android smartphone with NFC/Wi-Fi direct and edit with VSCO mobile. Can post to various social media from smartphone conveniently too and there are lots of SW options for editing etc. Doing that in-camera instead might not be as flexible and convenient from usability point of view I think.

Still, nice to see Zeiss doing something new and a bit different (and I will get that Batis 40/2).

I am all about Horsepower and IQ, I don't care if its ugly, and the shutter sounds like a elephant pooping, I don't care if its heavy, big or small, if it delivers the IQ, I would probably add it to my collection, since I already own a RX1R II, I see no reason for this offering from Zeiss. Gimmie a fixed lens Medium Format, and then I am in.

It's taken awhile but having the giant logo written straight across every ZEISS lens bezel is beginning to work for me. Okay, I lied.

As for this camera, my vote is No Effing Way.

No, because I don't want a fixed lens camera, but I'd certainly want to try one before defaulting to the RX1 or Q. I don't find it ugly, more bland but inoffensive, but it has a grip and the shutter release is mostly in the right place. Lens performance and the manual focus implementation would be key, though.
