p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · using Nikon flash on a Fuji x-pro 2

hi,

I am looking for a way to trigger a pair of Nikon SB 910 from a x-pro 2! what I am looking for is an easy way to use them without buying more heavy flash gear

thanks

There's a plethora of options available to you nowadays. I'm assuming you want to trigger them off camera, and potentially inside of a modifier?

If you only want to trigger the bare flash, then plopping a little accessory flash on the xpro2 at its lowest power and then turning on the optical slave in the SB910s would work.

You could also get something like these cheap yongnuos: https://www.amazon.com/YONGNUO-Wireless-Trigger-Shutter-RF605N/dp/B00OLOIJG8/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1537717233&sr=1-4&keywords=yongnuo+trigger+nikon

They are for Nikon cameras, but the Fuji will do a center pin fire on a nikon compatible strobe, which is all you need in this case. Mixing brands between fuji and nikon of course might cause some issues.

Or you could sell one of your SB910s, and with the proceeds buy two TT685N speedlites (or a single AD200) and xpro-F trigger. That is actually the route that I'd recommend rather than trying to kludge something together, as mixing brands across strobe and camera body will require some compromises in terms of functionalities

Hi folks, thanks that really could help me

I thought about " a little accessory flash on the xpro2 at its lowest power and then turning on the optical slave in the SB910s" that is the obvious solution. I have to think about the second solution and in the long term I will probaly get something like the El Skyport as I also use an Elinchrom flash system too

If you are ok with something that you might just throw into your kitchen drawer after a season or so using it, something like these would work fine as a simple RF trigger: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1355369-REG/lightpix_labs_634158474989_flashq_trigger_kit_midnight.html

They seem to be quite popular and are a lot less unwieldy than many of the big fully featured RF controllers.
