p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Going to Yosemite and traveling Ca Coast- Filter Questions

Hi all, I am taking a trip along the California coast and to Yosemite. I will be taking two lenses, a 16-35mm f/4 L and a 35mm II f/1.4 L. The 35mm ii I plan to use for astrophotography mostly and the 16-35mm f/4 for landscapes in a variety of situations from sunset to sunrise, though I may use my 35mm ii at times, too. Anyway, I have a few questions regarding the filters I currently have and whether it might be useful to buy some more. As of now I have a polarizer, a Lee Big stopper, a Lee soft edge .9 grad nd filter and one Lee soft edge .6 grad nd filter. Would this be adequate for most of the situations I will encounter on my trip, or shoulder I consider buying some other filters like the Little Stopper for early morning and later afternoon use and a hard edge .6 nd filter for sea scapes? Thanks!

Just keep in mind what the polarizer will do to big swaths of blue sky. Lots of blue sky over the Pacific.

A .6 or .9 Reverse ND Grad could be another one to think about for seascapes. Depending on the type of images you are interested in making it could produce a more natural and pleasing look.

More toys, more choices. I tried in the past 1 stop, 2 stop, 3 stop, soft and hard. Now I prefer just 2 stop hard and 2 stop soft, I wasn't using the other ones. And big and small stoppers at 6 and 10 stops for waterfalls, smooth water. 6 and 10 is a big difference. But only get them if you use them enough.

Only 16-35mm, when you have other lenses? You won't miss the other focal lengths?
