Hi All,

I've recently got myself into wildlife photography and I'm keen to improve my skills. I am an amateur and I would say still a beginner. I got bitten by the wildlife bug when I went on a birdwatching trip out of curiosity at the start of the year with some friends. I had my Sony A6000 with the 55-210mm kit lens and I was a little frustrated with the lack of clarity and the lack of reach. After much research, I upgraded to a Nikon D7200 and a 200-500mm f5.6 and have been fairly happy with that combination. I have posted a few pictures as an example to what I've managed to get out of it and I'm open to some constructive suggestions.

A wealth of info on these forums about photography and I'm keen to be part of it. Thanks in advance for the feedback.

I reviewed your photographs and I am impressed and jealous, there are too many to judge and the subject matter is overwhelming.

Keep shooting and posting and someone/everyone will comment when you mess-up.

Do you know how to link images to a post here? I would recommend that you add a few pictures to this post so people don’t have to access your Flickr.

-click on the photo you want to share
-in the bottom right are several symbols. Click the one that looks like an arrow. M
-click “BB code”
-choose your image size.
-copy and paste the link shown into your post.

Welcome to the FM forum.

I took a look at your Flickr site. It appears you recently were in Kenya/Tanzania and got a lot of exciting photographs. Congratulations! There are too many to offer real critique or advice. The comments above are good advice and I too suggest that you select a few and post them one, two or three at a time using links to your Flickr site, or get a buy and sell membership so you can directly upload.

If you want critique you need to specifically ask for it. The FM forums are pretty polite so even if you request it the feedback is pretty gentle. If you don't request critique and advice you won't get it other than some polite complements.

Welcome to N&W. You have some very nice photos on flickr. Some general comments:

When your subject(s) is/are looking in one direction, it's accepted practice to leave room for the to look into. They should not be close to the edge in the direction they are looking.

Cutting off animal parts is frowned upon in most circumstances.

Welcome to FM. Agree with Ron on not cutting off parts of the animal, when you can avoid it, but your Flickr page is good. Love the shots of the lions.
