When my children were young we had a house in the neighborhood of Karen near Nairobi. Just down the street was a woman we just knew as Betty who used to feed the giraffes. The giraffes would come into her yard every morning and evening to be fed. My kids would often ask to go over and visit and feed the giraffes and warthogs. At the time, it was just an eccentric neighbor.
Now this house has become a boutique lodge for tourists. So, I took my Wife (not the original wife, or even the one after that. This one only came to Africa with me once, she says that was enough as she thinks I am intent on getting myself killed in the bush.  !) there when we had a layover in Nairobi before flying down to Arusha. It is her favorite place in Africa. Much too tame for me as are all lodges, and most of the game parks. The night we stayed we were fortunate enough to watch the birth of a new baby giraffe. I hope you guys enjoy.
