KD,

Wonderful set. You did see a lot in just 7 days.

Regarding pic 23, if the coyotes were "hunting" the prong horn, I can tell you the outcome; they had no shot. More likely the PH were teasing the coyote. I've observed this behavior when 2 coyote were in a field and the prong horn would run back and forth right next to them with no fear what so ever. They are so fast, they have no natural predators. It is thought that the original predator was a North American Cheetah, which of course is now extinct. Exciting and well done set.

Jim

yes indeed, actually 6 days since 1 day was rained out . My friend has been there several times, so he knew all the hot spots (no pun intended) and Paulie and Barb, who we met there, also gave us great intel.

Grizzlies were around 100 feet, black bears with 50-100, some even closer and the cinnamon was around 20-30 feet

thanks Jim and yes we had an eventful trip, Thanks for the info on the PH and the coyotes, looked to me that the were trying to run down the PH, unfortunately they went out of sight before anything could happen. When were you there?

I was there just before the 4th of July. I posted a thread which you commented in https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1553099/0#14529697

Seems to me they like to tease the coyotes. Here's one from about a mile away. Obviously not a good photo but it does capture the behavior. It was actually pretty funny to watch. As they ran back and forth, the coyote would keep turning its head to follow their whereabouts. After a while of this he finally just sat down and ignored them. A young woman who is a park ranger, told me she's seen this before and that the PH have little to fear from the local predators.

you are absolutely right, I did see some back and forth but mostly it was the coyotes chasing the PH. Thanks for the information or as they say in Hindi "Gyan"
