On a morning walk along the river with an old friend of mine who now runs the poacher patrol in the area, we ran into this guy. Although there was a a got bit of bank that would have made a charge very difficult for him, it still makes ones heart pound a bit. I like when that happens.

I can't believe how few Rhino are left our in the wild these days. When I first came to Africa in the early 1970's there were still a good number, and we saw them most days. I have no love of poachers.

When I was a young man we used to go out and get them to charge our vehicles for fun. Would not do that now, and never on foot. Notice that this image was shot at 600mm, the longest lense I have.
