Spent a few days in Jasper National Park with these big critters. I usually take my vacation time to coincide with the elk rut, and I find Jasper to be one of the best parks in Alberta to photograph them because of all the large open fields near the road, where they tend to hang out. Hope you enjoy.

The second is my pick Gordon for fitting the full elk and the nice clean background. The first is quite good as well

Thanks Morris. I like the second one as well, but I think I like the first better. Better closeup details of the muddy face and antlers. Looks a little more intense, like he was on the warpath and he was

Thanks Bob, the bugling sound really adds to the intensity of the rut. Makes the photography experience all the better because of it.

Nice work on these, Gordon. I especially like 3 because the environment reflects typical elk habitat.

Thanks, I try to always get part of the landscape/environment in my shots, when I can.
