p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Yellowstone

The second stop on our massive family road trip was Yellowstone. We were able to stay there for 8 nights, and the majority of that time was spent hiking or fishing as a family, but I was able to sneak off to take a few photos also. These are a few of my favorites.

#1 is the bacteria beds around Grand Prismatic Spring.
#2 is later in the afternoon overlooking Grand Prismatic Spring with some nice light hitting the hill in the background.
#3 is Lower Yellowstone Falls in the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone.
#4 is Yellowstone Lake with Stevenson Island getting hit by the golden light.
#5 is a closer look of the same, a little bit later in the evening.
#6 is sunrise over the Madison River.
#7 is a little later that morning looking up the Firehole River toward the Old Faithful geyser basin.

C&C is always welcome; thank you for taking the time to look!

I was there 1 year ago and got a lot of good images but not many great ones. You have a lot of great ones.

We have been out there many times, mostly fly fishing. You have captured it perfectly. Thank you for these.

Thank you so much! We spent a few days fishing as well, but used spinners, as my fly fishing skills are mediocre on a good day.

Stunning shots of a beautiful park. #1 is especially so. Encountered any bears hiking up to the Grand Prismatic overview area? I would have preferred a less warm tint to Yellowstone Falls but I'm sure the color is due to the late afternoon sun.

Looking forward to seeing more.

Very nice, love the compositions and realistic processing. 2, 5 and 7 are my picks. #1 has unevenly darkened sky, I'm guessing from a polarizer, which could be fixed in post.

Thank you for the nice comments! I didn't see any bears on the trail that day, but there were a few rangers at the trailhead when we started because someone was being stupid with getting way too close to a bison and got gored. I hemmed and hawed a little with my processing on the Yellowstone Falls shot; it was actually a morning shot, about 30 minutes before the rainbow appears, but I couldn't stick around for it because we were on a ranger-led hike at the time. I tried to recreate it as I saw it at the time, but I'll go back and take a look at it again.

Thank you, Heron! You called it on the uneven sky. What you see here actually is fixed a bit (from OOC) in post, but you're right, I could definitely make it better. Thanks again for the nice comments!
