This is an older image that never got posted here. These two caracaras gave me a stare when we just landed on Falkland Island. The great thing about a remote place like this, the wildlife is not too skittish. I got close enough to them to get a frame filing image here. Thank you for stopping by and please feel free to leave comments and suggestions.

I don't think the one on the left likes you, Joshua.

Nice capture.

Neet. The great thing about a lot of the wildlife here in the NYC area is there used to sharing space with humans so we can get very close. It seems a bit of a contradiction yet I know your version to be correct as well Joshua

Thank you, Michael, the key word here is "used" to know, right ?

Thank you, Fred! Neither one, liked me, it seems. I walked pass by them on the way up higher and both of them didn't take their eyes off me and both stood their ground.

Thank you, Morris! Yes, it can go both ways, I guess. The burrowing owls in Ontario, Southern California are used to plane flying overhead at a fairly low altitude. Their site is very close to the landing runway of the airport there. And the roaring airplanes do not bother them at all. Luckily, the airport is fairly small and not that busy but still...

Thank you very much, KD! That was almost 6 years ago. There were a few FMers there as well and I met Don Gutowski (dongut) on that trip that also included South Georgia. It was wonderful but the sea was really rough and a lot of us got seasick, including myself and Don.

Tom, thank you very much! That was my first encounter with them as well. They are not that shy here. I did get pretty close to one of them at a different location, close enough to see myself in the closest eye.

Thank you very much, Shirley! Yes, the expression, especially that of the guy on the left and their position to each other are special.
