Hummingbirds are my favorite species of birds. Ecuador is home to 132 species of hummingbirds. In and around Andean slopes, I saw at least 20 different types of hummingbirds although I was unable to photograph them all. Here are a few of these amazing and gorgeously colored birds.

Taken with Nikon D500 and either Nikon 500 f4 E or Tamron 70-200 2.8 with 1.4x tele

These are all superb shots. I particularly like #1, 6, and 8. I am guessing that they are hand-held with no flash. The metadata has been removed so it is not possible to tell.
I have been to Costa Rica and want to return there, and get to Equador. The variety and beauty of the hummers is amazing. Your images show that very well.

Thanks, Josh. That is one of my favorites too for the pose and the fact that the hummingbird was very shy and I got only this opportunity to photograph it.

Thanks for the kind words and the picks, Dave. 1-5 were on tripod and 6, 7 & 8 were handheld. 3 and 5 were with a multi-flash setup. You can see the detailed exif of the photos on my Flickr portfolio https://www.flickr.com/photos/warkari/

I personally liked Ecuador a bit better than Costa Rica although both would be top destinations for a return trip.
