These images were taken at a private pond on Long Island, NY on Friday. It's a place I love to shoot as the birds fill the place and some of the backgrounds are quite pretty. The challenge there is the tree line casts deep shadows that the birds fly in and out of. For the second image the heron had descended into the shadows creating a nice soft glowing light that I accented with flash.
