I suppose it hasn't occurred to anyone that what was once new, exciting, and different is no longer so. New and exciting is hard to come by..
What were once obscure sites to photograph in for example, Utah, these sites get overrun, beat up and posted 10,000 times now on the internet. Or, if I go out and spend time walking along a cliff edge, trying to find anything new, post it, and suddenly have all these inquiries "where is that?" People don't want to take time to smell the roses, seek the adventure themselves, they just want instant gratification. Which also leads to the "trophy shots." where it's more like "Look where I've been..." And then they follow up with endless mediocre pictures and bumping just to see their name at the top. Sort of takes the fun out of it. There was a small handful of those here that Fred actually was trying to put controls in place for, to limit their bumping and aggressiveness, but they ran roughshod over the forum, and effectively other more passive photographers.
