TECHIE DETAILS for the more inquisitive:
Image named by my fiancé.
As you might be able to tell from the background spray on the water, we were battling 60-80MPH winds here. I remember when Marc Adamus really put the area on the map (with cutting-edge images never before taken) and said that he had gotten thrown down over and over by 80+ MPH winds. On social media, some jealous people tried to say he was exaggerating. Well he WASN'T! I'm 6 ft and weigh about 210lbs and had my 40+lb camera backpack on and I got lifted off the ground and thrown down maybe 7 feet away from my launching point (by a wind gust). This place is no joke in a storm!
Interestingly, Marc Adamus and I had been going back and forth on the phone, text and such for about 10 years since about 2005 and he lived only 40 minutes away from me in Oregon (and I was often shooting or leading workshops in the same locations as him) but our paths never crossed until here in Patagonia. We were staying in hotels across the street from each other, and a good friend of mine who lives in Patagonia told me he was there. We ended up chatting quite a few times as we led tours in some of the same locations on some of the days. I found him to be very encouraging, generous and down to earth. I told him I would not be half the photographer I was, nor would I have done photography as a career if it was not for his constant inspiration. His reply was "Mark, you would have found a way!" Since then, I have had many people on my Tours (who also do his Tours) tell me that he speaks about me with very high regard and recommends my services. That is an incredible compliment to my life and career, since he has had the single largest influence on my photography and career path. I always talk about his work and influence to others.
Camera and settings:
Sony A7R (I never liked that camera - but do like the A7R2 and 3)
Canon 16-35L2
16mm
Cropped
200 ISO
f/22
1/8th of a second
Circular Polarizer
Out of countless shots, only 1 or 2 turned out due to the extreme winds (blur) and crazy water spray. The wind was so loud we could not even hear each other yelling at each other!
The image was a very quick and easy post-process since the light was so naturally dramatic. Nothing unusual was done here, so I'll spare the typical details about post-processing this time.
I will say that the image will look best on a color corrected (calibrated) Mac at 2.2 Gamma, 6500 White Point and especially 125 brightness/luminance in a semi diffused and mellow lit room (not too dark or bright). Those are some lose industry standards for web viewing.
All the very best to you and great light to you!
I have to go get married now!

Superb image, as always from you, Mark. And best wishes to you and your bride in your forthcoming wedding.
