I recently purchased a D3400 and the AF-P trio; 10-20 VR-18-55 VR-and 70-300 DX VR for an upcoming hike in Yosemite. So yesterday morning I headed to my local nature preserve for a sunrise walk. I normally take my D500 and Sigma S attached to a Wimberly head and then I'll throw either the 24-120 f/4 in a bag or if I want to go lighter just take a 24 2.8 in my pocket. I very rarely want to take along another body which would be the D750 because of weight. The problem is, 24mm can be too long on a crop body, plus I have to stop, detach my Sigma, take my backpack off my back, and vice versa. So a lot of times I pass on a shot because it just doesn't seem worth the hassle.
Yesterday I brought along the D3400 with the 18-55 attached to the strap of my pack via the Peak Design Camera Clip. The camera and lens is light enough that I barely notice it and being able to quickly just unclick the camera, take a shot, and clip back in is liberating. I found myself taking more shots than I normally would because it was so effortless. I wouldn't want to use the clip with anything bigger than this light body and lens but I can see how this will be part of my wildlife kit.
D3400 shots are all hand held.
