"only a mother could love" comes to mind

. That said, I do think they make a very interesting and colourful subject compared to most other fledglings. Great job capturing them between the reeds.

Thanks for the comments. I was back at one of my favorite spots looking for a family of red-necked grebes, but they weren't around. The coots seemed to have taken over for the time being. They are only that color for about five or six days so these must have been recently hatched.
