Hi folks,

Been a while since I have posted here, but I hope to become more active so I can improve my photography. Attached are a few images from my visit to Lone Pine, CA a few weeks ago. For years I have dreamed about, and heard amazing stories from, the Eastern Sierras. Driving through this landscape is truly breathtaking. I didn't have my telephoto lens with me, but I am still happy to have captured some beautiful light playing on the mountains at sunset. Please let me know what you think, recommendations for improvement very much welcome!

Also, does anyone know the best image size/dpi to save my images with for when uploading? I noticed the sharpness is pretty poor when I posted these two.

The light in no. 2 really gives a sense of depth and distance Matt.

Thank you! I am very happy with the quick shots. I was fenced in behind barbed wire, so it make working on a foreground hard...I wanted to use some of the shrubs as a cool subject, but wasn't about to go over the fence.

Thanks Douglas, really glad you like the shot. The wind was wild that evening, so it made shooting the longer exposures a bit tricky =) Glad I caught at least a few worthwhile images.

Hey Fred,

Really loved visiting this part of CA. I actually went back this past weekend, but ended up going all the way to Mammoth Lakes after stopping to shoot the Milky Way in Alabama Hills. Really an incredible part of the US.

Really glad you enjoy the shots! The first one is definitely my favorite as well. The dark clouds were heading over the mountains towards Death Valley that evening.

Hi Doug,

Appreciate the kind words. I tried to get the shot as fast as I could. The wind was pretty crazy that evening, so it made it tough. I also didn't have anything longer than a 70mm lens. Glad I still managed to walk away with a shot that brings me back to the mood of the high desert.

The desert light really can create beautiful shadows on the mountains.
