Thanks Ken. Not sure how I got focus...just got lucky with the perfect window to where it came in to the flower. I was sitting on the front porch steps photographing a butterfly at these flowers when the hummer came in right beside me (hence why I don't have the entire bird in frame...despite using a zoom lens which I failed to zoom back in time ). It was there and gone within a couple seconds.
I like the fact that the shot is not the normal. I like it from an artistic standpoint. I personally don't find the bloom the issue, the distraction would be the nearest the viewer OOF line, it could be darkened a bit to be less noticeable.
At first look I enjoyed the image Geoff...…………..and I still do enjoy it
Don't agree that the obstruction of the bloom is a distraction. It is consistent with the obstruction of the hummingbird, and those obstructions frame the primary element...the incredible capture of the hummingbird's eye and head.
