Fantastic set and I love the skies in #5? The scars are pretty incredible too and a testament to their tough lives, none of which the colt/filly demonstrates.

Very nice set Kevin....It is difficult to see horses and think of them as anything but domesticated. Seeing them roam wild must evoke emotions and visions of a long lost time when this was the norm and not the exception.

Thank you Tam. I think the fighting and posturing over the females goes on during most of the spring. They were definitely doing that while I was there at the end of May.

I agree, I found it hard to think of horses as being wild. Of course all animals were wild at some point in their history. And the behaviors of these horses showed off their wild side. Thanks, Eric.

Great images. I've photographed in the McCullough and Pryor ranges but never Sand Basin. Is it hard to locate them?

Thank you Don. We only saw about 50 or so of the 500+ that supposedly live there. It is a good sized area to drive around, but many of the ones we saw were near the few water features available, or along the roads near Lookout Mountain. So it isn't too hard to find some, but there are apparently lots more that we didn't find.
