I personally like the composition; the eye is drawn to the flower in the center that's in focus then to the right of it you have that colorful, creamy painterly bokeh.
A very pleasing and relaxing image, Don. May be composition could be improved if you crop just left of that bright vertical strip on the left side. I am thinking that because that strip is the brightest part of the image and kind of pull my eyes distracting from the beauty of the flower.

Thank you, Ayas for the nice comments! As Morris mentioned above, composition boils down to personal taste. I'm pretty open minded and love to hear suggestions as well as try new things in the quest for learning. With that in mind I thought I'd try cropping the image a bit to see if it works better

Yes, Don. That is what I had in mind. Lighting up the top of the flower and darkening the bg could also help isolating the flower.
Hi Socrate,
Unfortunately, I don't use Lightroom or Photoshop, etc yet so I'm not sure I can play with my images in that way. All I have is my onboard iPhoto which is very basic in nature which allows me to straighten and crop, but nothing fancy. I appreciate the suggestion though
Thanks to everyone who was willing to express their thoughts and offer suggestions as to how I can improve my image.
