p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Beautiful Blurs

After weeks of clouds and rain here in New York City the sun finally came out on Thursday Afternoon. This allowed me to take photos during the evening magic hour at Nickerson Beach. I was thrilled to have beautiful light on this fascinating and pretty environment. I took traditional portrait and documentary photos of the birds in there nesting area till the light level was low enough to allow me to drop my shutter speed and do blurs. Having heard people's responses to my blurs in past posts, this set will avoid extreme abstract images and focus on composition, light, color and flow. Please let me know what you like and/or don't care for.

The problem with Terns and low light is that you totally lose the eyes Morris. 2 would stand out with a hint of the eye ~ Ron

I like #2. But the motion in the background paired with the birds' motions really catch my attention.

Thank you Ron,
I see both eyes in that image. Am I imagining this?

Thank you Stephen,
I've been shooting blurs for a long time and this day was the first time I was able to blur the waves motion

I went back and looked again. They are there, but I had to look very close to see them ~ Ron

Yes you are jk
While I appreciate the artistic side of these images, I am with Ron about the eyes, Morris. We know birds have eyes and our natural tendency as humans is to make eye contact. The one golden rule of wildlife photography. However I find hard to make eye contact with most of your images. Opening the eye shadows will allow the eye contact with the viewers and will give more life to the birds IMO, but if you are pleased with the images that's all that counts

Thank you Socrate,

Normally I live by visible eyes. Normally my blurs are more abstract and with these looking mostly like there subject I see how the visibility of the eyes becomes important. The easiest way to solve this is to turn my flash on as I had it off for these.
