My backyard bird studio that is....full disclosure: these birds were baited by sunflower seeds....

1) Male Evening Grosbeak

2) Male Black-headed Grosbeak

3) Female Evening Grosbeak

4) Female Black-headed Grosbeak

5) Mr and Mrs American Goldfinch

6) Female Evening Grosbeak on final approach to the feeder

7) Male Red-winged Blackbird

8) Female American Goldfinch

I know we are evil....
For those that don't know, the MC-11 adaptor reports odd EXIF data (I'm told the Metabones reports properly). The 600 SAM is my Canon 600 f/4 IS II lens. In other postings if you see a 400 SAM that is my 400 DOII lens. The focal length reported will let you know if I had a Canon TC on or not.

Excellent set of images shot with a variety of equipment. You have both the A9 and the 1DX2 with the 600/4. Without the Exif I would not be able to see a difference. Which do you prefer with the 600/4 and the 400/4 DO? Have you discussed that in another thread?

Great stuff, Geoff! Without mentioning it I'd have never known that they were coerced into showing up.

Love the last for the simple/clean look, but #1 has insaaaaaaaaane eye detail!!!

Lovely and I don't know many people who would count a bird feeder as baiting. I love thee them all. You sure are in an area of intense bird activity.

Thanks Dave. If I want to have the best possible AF for the Canon lenses then the 1DX2. If I want to shoot silently with birds fairly close then the A9. The sensor output between the two is so similar it doesn't really matter...the A9 is probably a slightly better sensor (and a few more MPs) but I don't really use the IQ as a determining factor in choosing between them

I'm not sure how you keep track of all the variations but they do come out pretty decent
