Bigger because they have a new (updated according to Sigma) version of the MC-11 built into each lens. You know you could just check the thread on them, right here in FM, to learn a lot more and even see *gasp* pics !

Bigger than DSLR because Sigma decided to get creative and weld the MC-11 to their prime ART lenses.

I couldn’t believe when they annouced it.

I thought Fred was joking, so whats the point of buying the fe mount, I can get a canon mount and use it on both systems!

I’d imagine the reason was because not all Sony users own Canon gear? Anyway, this topic was discussed at length when the lenses were announced and the general consensus seemed to be disappointment. Myself included.

The FE version supposedly AF better because it has direct communication with the body without the adapter translation.

I’m awaiting tests to confirm this. You can pick up Canon mount versions of the art lenses on the cheap these days.

Not only that...The FE version may lose value much faster than the Canon. Especially if Sigma decides to develop mirrorless versions for some of them.

We will have to wait and see. I just wish they were available rather than the lengthy delay between "announcement" and sale. Still it fills the threads.

Yes, anxious for the first tests which compare Sigma FE native and Sigma-Canon-MC-11. I have a preorder for the $1400 135mm F1.8 Sigma/FE.

Used Canon mount 135s are selling for about $1100 (new gray markets too but who wants that?). I already own the MC-11. I have adapted the Nikkor 105 F1.4 successfully-but not for action. My Sony 85mm F1.8 FE is a trrriffic kens but still will not AF as fast as two GM zooms.

So if I am to own another lens which is less than top drawer for action AF I think I will wait for the rumored Sony 135mm F1.8 which, I hope, is to be a GM.

I'm still waiting for info from Sigma regarding the exciting 70/2.8 Art Macro. So far, the Canon EF and Sony FE versions are the same length—that can't be true.
