I was sitting near the bush and heard the coot's noise; turned around and I saw them start fighting. Backlit but the action is what I was after. Here are the sequence of their fight to show their behavior when mating and food become a problem

That's a great sequence of action shots Tam. Funny, I've been seeing dozens and dozens of Coots these past 2 weeks and have not seen any fighting like this. I've seen a few small squabbles but nothing to campare to this. Well done!

First time I've ever seen their feet. They look big and out of proportion to their body. Ugly also.

Thanks Dave. I was lucky to see them fight like this about 4 times during my 8 years shooting

Yes, their big feet are the great tool helping them running on the water and walking in mud with ease.
