I spotted this pied-billed grebe start taking off from far and tried to follow it while sitting low with tripod.
I am not used to tripod so I am a little slow on this bird. I need to practice more shooting with my tripod.

Nice catch, Tam. PB Grebes are common much of the year where I live. I rarely see them flying.

Thanks very much, my friend. This year, they come in a big group at my local lake. One of my friend said that grebes more likely flying at night time during migration and I was lucky to see a single flying.

Lucky you Tam, I always feel luck to have one floating near me let alone flying! Congrats as that is a first

Nice capture. They are quick flyers. I normally only get them on the water.
