We are planning to visit Death Valley National park next week for 4 days. Family trip. Everybody like photography, so we are ready to wake up early for sunrise and wait for sunsets. I am petty much know what I want to see, but it would be nice to receive a recommendations what points and places are better at sunrise, or sunset or fine during the day. Like Zabriskie Point - sunrise or sunset?
We like to hike, so any advice about great hiking there would be very welcome.
Thank you in advance

Head over to the Trip Location Advice forum, where you will get more detailed responses. There is at least one DV info thread already there, maybe two.

I just returned from a windy week in DV. Sarah Marino/Nature Photo Guides has a good photo ebook on DV. From the places we shot, Zabriskie and 20 Mule would be best in the morning. Artist Palette best in the evening. Badwater and Mesquite dunes can be good both morning and evening

Reporting back to the mother ship - just returned after 4 happy days in the Death Valley National Park. Up and down from 4,000 ft to -282 ft below sea level at the Basin. Such an amazing place, that was a moment or two when I wasn't sure is that still Earth or we are already on the Mars. 5 different canyons, basin, Artistic Drive and dunes. We experienced a sunset at the Mesquite Dunes and than just sit there and waited for the stars, it was unforgettable. Lots of people there, but it is even better that way - you have something to show the real size of the dunes. With family and kids it was no go for sunrises
All your advice plus this book by Michel Digonnet - Hiking Death Valley: A Guide to its Natural Wonders and Mining Past helped a lot.
Thank you!

^^ Glad you enjoyed your trip. Yes, DV is a magical place, and each time you visit, a new wonder shows itself.

Great report back, as you see there is lots to see, and next time you have a better idea, or try new places there...
