I'm in Kashmir, a place that's been on the bucked list forever. First stop was Gulmarg, which is India's top ski resort.

We were greeted by a snowstorm, which accompanied us on the drive to the top:

By sunrise next morning, the clouds were retreating:

But then, this little birdie told me the weather in Gulmarg is completely fickle:

By the time we took the world's highest gondola to the ski resort, the clouds were back, but there was, thankfully, no storm, and the day ended up being quite warm!

Wow! When I think of the India region, snow never enters my thoughts! This is great! Do many people from Kashmir and India proper, ski? I really don't know nor have ever heard.

Yeah most of India is quite warm, but we do have the Himalayas in the north. There are only a few big ski resorts, and I wouldn't say a lot of Indians go to those places to seriouly ski, but they do attract a lot of skiiers because there are some pretty long slopes with excellent conditions. Gulmarg even has heli-skiing. I managed a 6 km sled ride to the bottom, which was exhilarating.
