Thinking, should i buy a back up body to my a7R3 so that i can use at least 2 primes, and less lens change.
Or, should i buy a 24-105 and just use one body but again, with less lens change and versatility.

Background:
I was shooting Holi, the color festival here and i was too scared to shoot a7R3, with so much color powder being thrown all over, and forget about changing lenses at all. I ended up using my RX10 and the camera has become red

I'd recommend getting a cheap body + the 24-105. You can get the original model A7 series (A7, A7r, A7S) well under $1000, and for many use cases and focal lengths they are just as good as the A7R3.

I'd probably put the lens that needs fast AF on the A7R3 and the other lens on the A7R (those are the bodies I have, and I do have and use the heck out of the 24-105).

The 24-105 is a heck of a lens...however, If you care about your photography , a second body is a must have too.

Get the 24-105 and a rain cover if you’re going to shoot the color festivals.Treat your gear well!

If I was shooting Holi I would buy a cheapo used five year old dSLR and a nifty fifty (or old mirror less) for $100 off Craigslist and then give it to Goodwill post event.

I wouldn’t shoot my own gear.

Thanks guys. I did shoot the entire thing with RX10 and had coloured powder thrown in to the camera multiple times. Somehow it just worked. I felt sorry about not being able to use 135/2 because i had even planned for the kind of shots i will take, but i was too scared in the end. If i had a a73 maybe i would have gone ahead

I think for next holi i will look into buying an Olympus TG cheapo compact just for this.
