Fred, I really like the sharpness and color. As is, the sky is the star IMO. I like the colors on the mid ground but the whole lower left is pretty barren. If there was some way to get some light on the left side rocks it would have strengthened the foreground and given better balance.

Great use of 12mm. The foreground is convincing and shows little distortion and volume stretching. Did you focus stack?
Hi Elimoss,
As you wrote, 12mm is a bit challenging for most subjects and I rarely use it for landscapes. For this one, I thought it worked better than 15mm. Yes, I focused stacked with only 2 images: One for the foreground and another set to infinity distance. Combined them using Zerene. Thanks for the comment.

I agree the sky is main focus point. I was in a location preparing to shoot something in the opposite direction. When I saw the sky changing, I realized I had to change my composition and found this after taking a short hike. I will try your suggestion to better balance the composition. Thanks for your critique!
That just screams Owens Valley. Beautiful image, Fred. When conditions are so excellent, you just have to stop and make an extraordinary image out of an otherwise ordinary place.
I see you shot it at F4 - I was wondering if you'd get a sharpness boost if you stopped down the lens by 1-2 stops for optimal sharpness. With focus stacking I realize you don't need to stop down to normal F11, etc but I thought optimal sharpness on lens is something like f5.6, etc. Beautiful image.

Love the light on the left, Fred. You might want to strengthen that vignette a bit, may be.
Someone wanted that area to be brighter and you wanted darker.
I think I should compared all three versions and see what looks best. I appreciate the feedback!

Geeesh that brought a rush and goosebumps over me Fred! Maybe I just need to be a tag along to see all I have been missing here in flat Ohio
I'm not qualified to critique on this one so I will comment only.................Wow what a view
Karl
Thanks Karl! This was taken in Inyo County, California. Be careful when you drive around here, there are a lot of speed traps!

I can see you know this area well Jeffrey.
Thanks for your comment.
