Earlier this week, I was able to run out to the Badlands National Park in South Dakota after a substantial snow. I tried to capture the late afternoon sun, as well as the waning light of the day at sunset. I wish the sky had some high clouds in it for some additional color, but alas, the clouds did not come.
The tracks you see in #2 were from a porcupine. The tracks lead to a tree and golly, there was a porcupine taking a nap.
