Found this somewhat cooperative male Ruby-crowned Kinglet yesterday. I spent about an hour with him trying to get some clear shots. Anyone who has tried to photograph a kinglet knows they never stop moving and are bounding up and down all over the place. Challenging but lots of fun.

These are the best shots I got...my goal was to get ones with its crown raised. It helped that it was Valentine's day and he was chasing around the ladies

Dang Geoff, I am sure that is the one that two walkers scared away just before I was about the press my shutter button.

I sure like #4 the best, and to me that is an example of how soft, muted light can bring out more detail than one shot in hard, harsh light.

Yes. 500mm f/6.7 wide open. I think it acts like 1.5 stops. Really should say 510mm I guess but that is how Nikon reports it.
