Images are leaking, and it is a distagon design. That will sit good with the Loxia 21 lovers! I will replace my ZF.2 25/2 with this Loxia, losing half the weight (lens + adapter)

I’m buying one for sure in a month or so. Been waiting for it. It will gap my 15/40 perfectly for me.

End of day I’ll have 15,25,40,65,135 as my landscape kit. That’s really nice gapping and the very best glass for Sony.

Looking forward to seeing the images it produces but it's going to have to beat my Loxia 21 for me to consider it. I don;t see owning both . . . at least right now!

Beautiful looking lens, like all the Loxias. I'm sure it will be outstanding.

I will be skipping this lens in favor of my Loxia 21. This is the same thinking that caused me to sell my ZE 21/2.8 in favor of my Canon 24 TSE II, which trumped the Zeiss with its perspective controls and similar focal length. I found it too redundant to have two bulky and expensive lenses of comparable optical quality. At least the Loxia are not bulky!

The only Loxia I would be interested in is the potential 28/2 to fill the gap between 21 and 35, which isn't a really large or critical gap anyway. As it is, I find Loxia 21-35-50 to be a pretty well covered range for manual focus lens.

Looking forward to photos from forum members -- maybe that will ignite my G.A.S.

Very close to what I am planning. You have convinced me about the Laowa 15, but if someone makes and excellent 18mm I might go with that instead. Then I plan on the Loxia 25, but I am hoping CV makes the 35 f/1.7 in E mount. I see that as the smaller less quirky lens that I would prefer over the 40 f/1.2. Then the CV 65, but I am also hoping that CV makes an E mount version of the 125 f/2.5 APO that I would get over the Batis 135. The Batis is a fantastic lens, but for this set I would prefer MF. So, my preferred kit would be 18 (not sure what yet), Loxia 25 f/2.4; CV 35 f/1.7; CV 65 f/2 APO, and CV 125 f/2.5 APO.

All I know is that since the last time I saw you, you've gotten both the CV40, AND the Sony 24-105.

I can very clearly see a future where you own both the Loxia 21 and 25...

For some really strange reason I rarely shot my Loxia 21. I lean heavily on the Laowa 15mm and I grew up in every system with a 24mm lens and a 35mm. Now it will be 25 and 40 and I'm in love with the 40mm. I did buy back a CV 28mm Ultron this morning to hold me over until the Loxia 25mm is out and tested. Not in a big hurry

I'm still hoping that this 25, when measure, is somehow truly a 28.

If they are truly 21mm and 25mm lenses, the gap would be about 10 degrees of angle of view apart. That could useful in situations where the 21mm is too wide for your composition. However, one could argue cropping the 21mm image to 25mm whenever needed while still keeping 29MP resolution. (42MP sensor)
Currently I'm shooting 21mm + 28mm (ZF Distagon) so my gap goes: 15, 21, 28, 40, 65 and 100-400.

Gaps are so old-fashioned.

12-24mm, 24-105mm & 70-200mm - heaven.

I've got multiple 24mm prime choices if I need/want to implement them: Canon 24 TSE II, 24/2.8 IS, and Nikon 24/2 AIS.

At the moment, the only 28mm prime I have is the Sony 28/2, which is a handy lens, but not a Loxia! (I do have a Pentax-M 28/3.5, but that's not a "serious" lens.)

And, as Mike says, I do have multiple zooms that provide pretty decent images, including that nice 12-24/4G which I often shoot at 24mm.

hmm, seems weird to release a 25 Loxia when we already have a 21 and everyone has been screaming for a 28

Wouldn't the Loxia 35 be a better purely landscape lens? I'm tempted by the 40, but more as an addition, not a replacement. Just got the Loxia 35 (for the second time) and 21 & 50 for the first. It's more lens than I need, but awfully hard to accept any alternatives for landscape use after shooting with these.

At any rate I kind of like the 25mm focal length. I'm not a UWA junky, I could see possibly swapping my 21 for a 25...

Actually I think the CV 40 is a far better lens over the Loxia 35. Both more wide open and stopped down

Btw the Cv 40 hits the corners at 5.6 and the Loxia at F8. Also the Loxia sucks big time at F2 but the CV at f2 is amazingly nice.

I tested my CV 40 versus my RX1R II on landscapes and the CV40 was sharper and had better contrast. It's also better than my Zony 35/2.8. The CV 40 has become my favorite lens.

Thanks, was thinking about infinity tests on another forum that had opposite results, but didn't love the tests regardless. Now you got me thinking I need to sell my Loxia's... gee thanks Guy!

That's impressive. Thinking I might have to try a 2nd copy of the 40mm (I bought one and returned it because it was pretty terrible)
