I have Done very little landscape photography, this year I intend to do a lot more, and I am wondering how often you shoot longer than 100mm

I have a 12-24f4 and a 24-105f4 both great lenses, will this be enough reach, I could probably crop the 105 to 130 and still have plenty of detail

I do have the 70-300 but adding this it is getting heavy for longer walks

All depends on what each person shoots. Longer lenses tend to come in to play with mtns, dunes, wildlife..not so much with seascapes.

One of my favorite lenses is the 70-200. One of my most significant landscape images was made with a 720mm focal length. Other important images of mine were made with an 11mm focal length.

To answer your question, I look at the scene, determine what part of it I want to capture, where I need to put the camera, and a hundred other decisions. Then I use the lens that will give me my image. My lens never tells me what the image will be, I select the one I need.

I have been using longer focal lengths for some landscapes recently and certainly want to explore it more. I have been using the 70-200 as this is a nice mid-range zoom and can eliminate a lot of distraction for distant landscapes. I also use it for seascapes if the sunset/sunrise is concentrated along the horizon to eliminate some of the more boring sky. That way I don't have to crop as much in the final image. As mentioned above, also provides lots of options for details and abstracts of interesting landscapes.

I personally only carry a 16-35. It forces me to include more of the scene, and I think that does a better job of conveying a story. It is definitely a personal style though. I have certainly seen a Lot of good shots taken with telephoto lenses.
