Another photo from 2017 Baffin Island Adventure that I wanted to share with you.

Magic Hour

I took this photo on a particularly moonlit night, just a few hours after it got dark. The lustrous light was transforming the landscape, yet it wasn’t reaching the shadows. At the beginning, I noticed some sort of a glow behind the mountains. As soon as the glow became brighter, I decided to hike to the viewpoint. When I reached that spot, the moon was already silvering the mountains.
The light of the moon has a power of transforming the landscape and is able to calm and refresh our feelings.

Wow - magic indeed! Very nice light, and a great shot because it manages to still look like night while also allowing us to experience the scene in a realistic way. The small dusting of stars are a nice addition. Looks like quite a location. Would love to hear more about where this was and what was involved in getting the shot, if you care to share.

Very nice. Makes me want to grab for a warm coat

Thank you. It was a very bright night. I could easily walk without a flashlight. Cameras have abilities to bring out a lot more details than our eyes can see but my approach and goal was to preserve moonlight and night feeling.

This photo was taken last September during our two weeks Baffin Island Photo Adventure. The only way to get to this viewpoint is by hiking and the minimum distance to cover is about 45 kilometers.

This is single 15-second exposure taken with 24mm lens.

The quality of light is so nice here. You've processed it perfectly, with just the right amount of blue, those stars, contrast between brights and shadows all while keeping it dark enough to really look like night. The comp is great too, with the eye following the stream into the image and then bouncing around between the two ridges on the left and right like a half-pipe. Sweet!
