p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Snowy owl photographed yesterday

We have returned from our trip to Death Valley, Valley of Fire, Grand Canyon and Los Vegas. I'm busy processing images from the trip and have posted the first of many images over on the Landscape Forum. There will be some that go up on City and Street as well.

A few of my friends wanted to visit the owls on the Long Island beach this week and only one was able to make it. We spent two hours walking the beach and dunes before spotting this young female snowy owl. It's very shy so we kept our distance setting up with a view of the crashing waves and a touch of snow on the sand. After about 30 minutes another photographer showed up and spooked it.

Morris, very nice snowy owl photos, but like 2 the best, also the previous smily one. There is one in the upper NW but very invasive.

image #1 is my favorite so far. Why? Because it isolates the owl beautifully and delicately in it's own environment. Wonderful composition Morris!

Love these guys! Is your lens front-focussing a bit? You have a lot of pebble detail in front of the owl in the first image, and the owl appears to be at the backend of the focus zone.

Thank you Phil,
Your comment is part of why I did V2.0 of the second and I'm much happier with the owl with the environment showing as it blasts off

Thank you Don,
There is a touch of snow visible on the right side of the first image. Most of it has melted yet that will be fixed tonight

Thank you Bobby,
The owl is on a small hill creating a similar look to front focus. The lens is spot on.
