Headed out to Death Valley a few weekends ago - really just an overnight trip. Was hoping to find water in Badwater....I did, but it was receding fast - and what was there was pretty scummy. Second choice was to hit Mesquite Dunes, but that didn't seem too promising (too many clouds). Third choice was to search - and find - some decent mud tiles. After a bit of walking - and an intense stare-down with a coyote - I stumbled upon these. Thanks for looking. CC's are always welcome.

I look, but don't often comment, and almost never vote, on the amazing photos posted on this board. But, Yikes! Voted. No. 1 could be the poster for a sci-fi movie. Brilliant comp of the lines separating the tiles.

Looks like an awesome place. The first is my favorite. Did you have to use focus stacking? Just wondering because the tiles in the foreground are quite close.

These were found pretty much off the main road - just a bit of a hike off it though.

Yes - didn't mention it - but each image was the result of focus stacking.

Seeing these puts me back there last week when there was some puddles in the brine in Bad Water Basin. The HDR treatment leaves a rather odd looking sky above the amazing dried mud.

Beautiful. Thomas Heaton from Youtube was out there recently if you want to check out his vid. You got much better light and I like your composition too.

One day i'll find those out there...so cool and great stuff. Colors look a tad overcooked to me but the comps are all on. Good schtuff!

Aaron - thanks very much for the comment - funny, posted here they do look a bit "cooked". Given your input - along with Morris - I'll take another look. Not my intention to overdo the sky - but sometimes I screw up in the conversions.

Todd - You are definitely a hyper-wide junkie. And it shows well!

Pic #1 is great but I'm wondering if a 5x7 crop would make it a stronger foreground?
Pic #2 - love the light reflecting off the mud tiles!
Pic #3 - great comp but I do see the difference of flatter light after sundown.

Although 3 great pics I'm only going to give you one vote!
