I'll go against the grain here and submit my vote for the Tamron 35 1.8. I have critter's old one and while he hated it, I actually love it. It's plenty sharp on a D810, albeit not Art sharp, balances beautifully on the D810, and focuses very accurately (I'm a pixel peeper, too). What convinced me to go for that over the Sigma was: 1) smoother, more natural/pleasing rendering from focus to OOF, though YMMV; 2) class-leading MFD, allowing a 1:2.5 magnification; and 3) the VC, while good not great, has absolutely been useful in the evening and indoors.
Then again, I had a bad experience with the Sigma 18-35 Art due to its AF, so I may be biased in this regard.
Frankly, I don't think you can wrong either way. Good luck.
EDIT: To add a con to the Tamron side of the ledger, it exhibits bad LoCA at larger apertures, which you should be aware of it that bothers you (I believe the Sigma is much better in this regard).
