The FE 28-70 kit lens is a good match for the A7 even if it doesn't do 24mm.
The Sony Zeiss 24-70 f4 is a good lens too I believe but does get a bit of a bad rep because of its price and it isn't THAT much better than the much cheaper kit lens.
I think that is partly because I think the kit lens is very good for the money.
You can find the 24-70 for under $1000 if lucky and the 28-70 is well under.
They have different strengths (and weaknesses) too.
On the other hand, if you shoot jpegs (and/or video) you can use a prime lens and use clear zoom and to me, the results are better than with a zoom optically.
Other than that, you can adapt Canon lenses and you will get auto focus, just not fast auto focus with an original A7.
