During a recent visit to Arizona we had the opportunity to photograph huge canyon vistas a night. At this time of year the Milky Way's core doesn't rise over the horizon so I concentrated on something a little different, the great star constellation of Orion.

Question, do you feel like the bright star on the left distracts from the image? I kept it because I think it adds a little balance to the comp. I could be swayed either way.

What a privilege to photograph there! I really like how Orion and the clouds and the bend work together. For my eye, the big blue star pulls my eye away from the main subjects. But if you like it, keep it! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Chuck thanks for the reply. I'm beginning to think the star is too bright. I'm on the fence to removing it vs just bringing it down a bit in post.

I'd keep that star if I were you. Like you said, it seems to be adding well to the frame.
