Interesting choice. I have this lens. Would you be willing to post some of your shots with it?

Sure. First, I'll give you some detail. Its just a very, very flattering lens, particularly for non-models. If I was a working pro for fashion, it would not be my choice. Its the wrong lens. But for regular folks who want to look their best, it is so hard to beat. It isn't a lens with strong micro-contrast. Rather, it tends towards smoother color transitions. It also excels in being extremely easy to touch up blemishes.

Here are a couple from a shoot I did that weren't in the keeper category for use, but I liked for other reasons. Only light source was a reflector and natural light. These were ones that made it through most of the cuts, but I didn't do much in the way of PP at all. Just group adjustments that I like to call "slider-monkey stuff." No touching up that would be used for final products.

Its the Minolta 100/2,the autofocus Maxxum. The manual focus from the Rokkor days was an f/2.5, I believe. It should also be quite a good lens. What gets me about the AF100/2 is that it has such good bokeh. It is so smooth. And yes, it will have some very, very minor LoCa, but it is one of the best controlled Minolta lenses of its era. So easy to correct in PP.

On an e mount body, I much preferred it to the amazing Sony CZ135/1.8. It would different if I did studio work or went back to A mount.

there was an early manual focus rokkor 100/2 as well in addition to the various 100/2.5 versions. i've never shot with it and have always been curious about it.

i also am quite fond of the AF minolta 100/2 (though i still shoot it as a manual focus lens of course ). i wouldn't call it's bokeh smooth really, but it has lovely delicate colors and the bokeh is never too objectionable:

My favorite lens is the one I use the most: CV 40/1.2 Nokton

I usually check my LR catalog with this app:
https://www.lightroomdashboard.com

Runner-up is RX1RII's Sonnar 35/2 followed by 85/1.4GM and Batis 135/2.8

For landscapes, my favorite is the Loxia 21/2.8, runner-up is CV 15/4.5 III but loving the Lox 25/2.4 as well.

My compact prime kit is: CV 15, Lox 25, CV 40 and Lox 85.

50mm f1.4 at the moment. It took a while to get used to the size, but in the end its worth it for the images it produces.

Currently the Tamron 28-75/2.8, it minimized the amount of times I use primes... very comfortable.

Depends. Today I'm using the 90mm Macro and loving it. Other times, it may be the 85/1.8. For video I'm liking the 28-135mm PZ.

From what I have seen, hands-down the Zeiss Batis 85 F1.8. This lens suffers with potential cat-eye/angular bokeh too quickly from the center of the frame to potentially less than ultra, buttery smooth bokeh in some ( but not all) circumstances. In the end, the Zeiss Batis 85 F1.8 IMO produces some of the most compelling, life-like skin tone, eye dancing, SHARP portraits @ F1.8, I've seen from any lens to date on the Sony FE system.

Can't answer this question. It is totally dependent upon the subject and lighting.

My favorite line of lenses is Loxia, but in low light, or when needing to isolate the subject, the 85mm GM, and 35mm f/1.4 ZM.

I just bought an FE 28/2 so maybe I'll have a new favorite. I won't know until it arrives.

Favorite: Milvus 35mm 1.4, it’s size isn’t as awkward as it seems, and it’s amazing! All the time, even on my FM2.

Favorite Native: Sony 50mm 1.4. I don’t own it yet, but rented it for a wedding thinking I might use it at the reception, and it ended up being my most used lens.

Honorable mention: Loxia 21. I don’t shoot wide as much anymore, but it’s always been excellent.

I have a Sony-Zeiss 50/1.4 en route,I'm hoping it'll be my new favorite. Until then, manual focus its CV40/1.2,love it. Autofocus-Sony 90/2.8 Macro, just love how it feels plus its sharpness & macro obviously (sometimes a useful portrait lens too)
