Periodically a request for a bird ID comes up on this forum. "Merlin" is a free app that was created by the bird people at Cornell University. You enter info about the size, colors and habitat and pictures of possibilities will be shown. These take your location into account. The birds they show you are based on the birds expected in your area at that time. Rare birds, e.g., those way out of their expected region, won't be shown. An option to have your photo ID'd should work in that case.

I have not found that to be the case at all but you have me curious, Morris. What sort of spam have you encountered when using Merlin?
