They don't appear sharp to me Birdie, that is my nit

just kind of an overall lack of sharpness in these.

Would love to see more of the Little Blue Heron

I prefer the first. Perhaps I am getting a bit jaded, but I like the fact that first is something I have never seen before. The way its eyes pop, its forward pose. Seems glorious in a goofy sort of way. Since so much of the image is water, I would probably add some vibrance to it, give the background (which really shares the stage with the bird) some more allure.
