Does it matter if a lens is Canadian or US version? What is the difference? What would be the issues with it?

Lenses are typically made in Japan or China, and they are exactly the same quality sold everywhere in the world.

Btw. Leica used to make lenses in Canada.

If you're talking about Olympus lenses, they all come from Olympus USA anyway - there is no Olympus distributor in Canada any more.

It is used and I thought there was something in the serial number that tells you were it was made for Panasonic.

Then it would say "Panasonic", and not "Olympus".

There is no Canadian or US version. They are the same and they have a U.S./Canada warranty.

Sure there is:

Olympus Canada Inc.
25 Leek Crescent
Richmond Hill, Ontario L4B 4B3
T: 289-269-0100

It's a direct subsidiary of Olympus Corporation of the Americas though, so should not have any effect on warranty.
