It is highly relevant and meaningful to that particular discussion to look at it from a broader perspective, including what makes those differences, and even the history and relation other cameras. Personal characterizations are never welcome though.

Highly relevant huh? The history of the Canon EF Mount. Canon’s lead in market share over Nikon.

These things somehow have something to do with the skin tones from the A7R3 compared to the A9?

The history of the EF mount is also the history of Canon's rise to become the industry standard, with which e.g. raw converters have to work their very best. After that come all the other brands. So, is that relevant for how raw converters interpret skin tones? It's very likely that they will work very well with Canon, the market leader, and then comes Sony, no. 2 in full frame.

Lenses also has to be significant for how skin is rendered, and no raw converter won't work with the market leader. -> EF mount lenses. Then comes the second permutation FE mount.

A small thing but words matter:

In a market economy Canon is the 'industry standard' in the way VW is the 'industry standard'. Instead, both are mere market leaders, i.e. they sold more units than the others did. A situation that can change very fast.

I shoot canon sensor for years and continue my path with sony sensor now since 2014. Both are workable likeness skintones in human application but imo, sony sensor has a huge edge in colors representation of other "like-life" applications. It's always true that better sensor will record better raw data for your needs then a good color profile will decom the rest to please your eyes. The better DR the lesser noises will make all kind of differences.

Would like some advice
When you profile for Sony using the chart tool in Adobe DNG profile editor, what do you use as the Base Profile? Adobe Standard or something else?
