Single focus point, yes; not always wide open, but at least close to it when there's only one person, or more that are all the same distance from the lens. I like what you've got there apart from the rather unappealing background, which looks rather drab to me. And I don't think it needs all the width. I'd have shot that in portrait orientation; since you didn't, you could crop it. But she looks good; perfect exposure, and a bit of catchlight in her eyes.
