Planning a trip to Las Vegas, Grand Canyon and Antelope canyon in late December. Any advice on location and weather would be appreciated.

I live in Phoenix and visit the Grand Canyon in February almost every year. The weather is variable. There is always a chance of snow at the Canyon. BTW, only the south rim is open in the winter due to much heavier snowfall on the north rim. The north rim is a thousand feet higher than the south rim.

Tourist volume is much smaller in the winter. Christmas, however, is pretty crowded as lots of folks celebrate the holiday at the canyon so you need to check reservations early.

The light in Antelope Canyon is very muted in December, plus side not very crowded.
Grand Canyon is very cold in December.
Good time to go to Death Valley or Zion for hiking and photography
Best food in Las Vegas is on Spring Mountain Road just west of I-15.

Vegas can be very busy over both the Christmas and New Years Holidays, especially if weekends, and hotel prices reflect that. We happened to get midweek pricing one year between the holidays and it wasn't too bad. We got snow. Not much and overnight so not too much impact on travel or roads. It's worth being aware that high altitude passes or areas can get snow if there are storms, and even I15 across from Ca can have some snow impacts.

Vegas is cheap as dirt before Christmas. Also leading up until new year and the day after new year as well. My yearly trip to vegas used to be January 2nd and I'd stay for 5 days and watch the remaining bowl games. The casinos were fairly dead as well and no pools or anything were open. I'd do some research on when Death Valley starts getting the lake and see if perhaps you can get something good there. Valley of fire to me is better than Red Rock. I also desire to head to Mojave but ran out of time my last trip. Within 3 hours there is a ton of stuff and if you want to you can always drive up to Zion as well.
