K-H, what about the teleconverters we use with the FE100400, are they ever updated?

Robert, I wouldn't think so.
The teleconverters only optical role seems to be to enlarge/magnify the image.
They also pass the electrical signals through between camera and lens.
But I don't think they actively participate in the focusing mechanism.
But what do I know? The experts should chime in and tell us.

Thanks K-H, more I think about it I have never seen a TC firmware update. Everything you said makes sense.
Have you performed the update on the fE100400 ??
I went to Sony USA/support/downloads/etc. but did not see it listed (yet).

I updated successfully with the download from the Sony Australia site pointed to above, using macOS Sierra.
The lens now seems to stay in focus when zooming in and out, while half pressing the shutter button. Yeah!!!

Thank you mogul for the post and K-H follow up after your own update. Somehow I missed this update notification. I'll be sure to do the updates myself later tonight. Side note: I decided to update my Mac to High Sierra recently. Hopefully this will not cause any issues with the Sony firmware updates.

I wonder if this update addresses the A9/70-200GM AF while rack zooming issues described by Michael The Maven in his Youtube video

Thank you. I run macOS High Sierra on my Mac, but for the update switched to macOS Sierra, as Sony says the update is good up to macOS Sierra. So I didn't bother to see whether macOS High Sierra would work. YMMV.
